Mission

"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

-Micah 6:8 NIV

Good News

“...provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”

-Isaiah 61

Jesus reads Isaiah 61 in Luke 4:16-21 and declares, "Today this has been fulfilled in your hearing."

Because of completed work of Jesus, the gospel is not just good news for the future, it's good news for NOW: the kingdom of God has come near.

 Kingdom

"Because we receive an unshakeable kingdom from God, we should show gratitude and offer acceptable worship with reverence and awe, remembering that earthly things pass away while God's eternal rule remains."

Hebrews 12:28

Presence

This is what the Lord says:

“Stand at the crossroads and look;
   ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.
But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Jeremiah 6:16

Our
Story

Manitou Mission began as a prayer meeting in the wine cellar of the Mona Lisa in 2016 bringing together anyone who had a heart for Manitou to come pray and worship.  Once we had outgrown the space, we moved across the street to a place called the Upper Room.

We began monthly worship gatherings Easter of 2016 as a congregation plant. We found City Hall and Manitou Parks to be a fit for those first few gatherings, until we finally found a place that could host our growing population of kiddos. (At one point our congregation was 50% kids!)

In February of 2017, we began a 7-year weekly gathering. When our lease ended, we became a Missional Community.

Similar to our first call and first shape, Manitou Mission exists now as a volunteer-led, grassroots community, meeting in groups throughout the city, worshiping God and learning how to live as his people together.
