Mission to Mexico
What was planned to be primarily a time of preparation for a major mission/church planting project in April 2007, turned out to be a wonderful and powerful time of harvest and miracles in itself, combined with many real God-appointments with leaders and ordinary people in day to day encounters . Over a week of various meetings, around 400 people surrendered their lives to Christ as Brian Kuppan (our mission Director), and Ulrik Siegenfelt ( cameraman from Denmark who came to video and create a documentary…soon to be seen here on the web…watch this space !) and myself ministered in a whole variety of settings…from the streets to outside a hospital (giving out free food to the poor and sharing the Gospel, praying for the sick etc.) to a car parking lot to public meetings.
Many wept as they gave their lives to Christ, and many were healed by His power. Let me share with you just a few testimonies to God’s glory…
1. On the first night, meeting with leaders…though we were exhausted from travel, clearly the Lord was still ready to move…the Word of knowledge flowed freely and twelve leaders responded, all of whom were instantly healed of conditions ranging from poor sight to back conditions, frozen shoulder etc…
2. The evening meetings in Tuxtla were filled with the power of God as one lady who has suffered with scoliosis for years suddenly felt and heard her back “click” into place all up her spine…and it was straightened ! Praise God ! Another woman who had both a severe case of facial paralysis from a stroke (it had also dropped on one side), and a tumor under her armpit, fell under the power of God, and while on the floor, felt a Hand on her face which healed her and lifted the face back into position. When she got up, rejoicing in that healing, she discovered that the tumor under her arm was also gone !
3. One night five deaf people were instantly healed before anyone laid hands on them…by the Spoken Word ! Eyesight was also restored, dumb spoke, and a young man who had a large built up shoe with callipers coming from it up his leg , was instantly healed , having had his parents remove both the shoe and the callipers…following prayer, the leg instantly lengthened out and was restored whole as the other. An older lady who had been crippled through a car accident and had not walked for one year was instantly healed and got out of her wheelchair in tears , walking and moving around freely, rejoicing at the healing compassion of Jesus !
These are just a small sample of the many miracles the Lord did during this time. Further to this, it was wonderful to meet leaders in different towns in that region, many who had not yet received the Holy Spirit. Somewhere in the region of about 70 leaders were baptised in the Holy Spirit, speaking in other tongues during our stay there…including three young American missionaries, the young lady amongst them also being instantly healed of a terrible neck condition that she had to have physiotherapy for three times a week . She wept with joy as the Lord totally restored her. Praise the Lord !
On one of the last days in Chiapas, we ministered at a leaders breakfast in San Christobal, where about 120 leaders met with us to hear the Word of God. It was a powerful time, and most of them ended up laying on their backs in the Presence of God, overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit. This is an area of intense persecution for many believers, but they invited us to come and hold a mass mission/church planting project for the region in April next year. Having prayed about this, we believe it is right to pursue this vision and see thousands turn to Christ and many new churches established. This will of course entail the training of new leaders, and much prayer and unity amongst the churches…but they are ready and willing to go for God’s purpose in this…Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, to save the lost, and to build His Church !
