Faroe Islands Summer Mission - 18th-20th Aug.
It was a privilege this Summer to spend a few days ministering in the Faroe islands! The Church there is a remarkable testimony to the grace and power of God at work in the lives of ordinary people. The building can seat a thousand ,yet it is situated in a village where there are only 75 people!
The Church is almost completely free of debt and there are already around 400 members there, let alone the regular visitors that often make up the 600 congregation. From the moment we arrived, Stephen Pailthorpe and myself could not only see the beauty of the islands, but could sense the expectation in the Pastor’s heart, and his people. They were not to be disappointed. Pauli (the Pastor), had set up three evening meetings and several day seminars on moving in the power of God. To see these normally reserved Faroese people released in the gifts of the Spirit, prophesying, moving in words of knowledge and healing the sick was truly wonderful…and some of the healings were testified to with tears dropping down their faces as they had been healed of conditions that had bound them with pain for years in some cases. A particular highlight to me was the youth meeting, as hundreds of young people gathered to worship and hear the Word of God. It was a powerful night ! Many responded to the call for salvation , and even here amongst the youth, miracles of healing flowed freely.
Two testimonies that stand in my memory are those of a young man who had damaged his spine and knee in a football accident five years ago, and had lived in daily pain with a certain degree of restriction in his movement. Doctors could do no more for him, and he told us that the Church he came from did not believe in miracles today…Jesus obviously does ! On touching his back for barely five seconds I “knew” he was healed, so prayed no more, telling him to bend over, “stress” the muscles etc. through movement…the joy on his face told it all, as he leapt about healed in his back and his leg in Jesus’ name ! Further to this he was very quickly baptised in the Holy Spirit too and began to speak freely in other tongues.
A young girl was deaf in her right ear, and had been receiving much prayer for it. The Holy Spirit quickened to us that her problem was caused by a deaf spirit, and having cast it out, she heard freely. Glory to God !
This is only a short testimony to all that the Lord did in the Faroe Islands, but it was a wonderful and worthwhile visit to a beautiful bunch of God’s people !
